Finding somewhere to eat in Kuala Lumpur is both the easiest and hardest thing there is, moreover when planning for a group. Today, we opted for Korean at Wara-Wara Korean Restaurant.
For those unfamiliar with KL, there is actually a fairly concentrated community of Korean ex-pats living in the city. The unsurprising result, of course, is the proliferation of Korean restaurants popping up in certain places including Solaris Mont Kiara – a mid to high-end residential area in the city.
Wara-Wara Korean Restaurant (와라와라) is a Korean barbeque buffet restaurant located in Solaris Mont Kiara and it will not disappoint if you’re looking for something that is:
Affordable (a flat rate of RM 29 for an all-you-can-eat);
Fast (it is a buffet);
Varied & delicious spread of home-cooked Korean food (I counted over 25+ dishes, including the famous Korean instant noodles, kimchi, kimchi jjigae (kimchi soup that often comes with rice), rice cakes, barbequed & seasoned pork. If you can’t take spicy, there are more than enough non-spicy options to choose from); and
Clean and homely.
DON’T come here if:
You dislike Korean food;
Want an ala carte menu;
Halal food (there’s roast pork. It definitely isn’t halal);
Posh environment.

The Wara-Wara (와라와라) Dinner Buffet Review
No food review is ever complete without the requisite food photos, so here we go! But first…
Parking
Wara-Wara Korean Restaurant is located on the second floor of a block of restaurants. This means that if you drive, it may be a little hard to find a car park space.
Just go around the blocks in the area until you find a spot. Better yet, get a Grab to save yourself the hassle.
Entrance
Once you’ve parked, look for the sign above.
Go up the stairs to the second floor to enter the Wara Wara Korean Restaurant.
Wara-Wara Korean Restaurant Layout
The restaurant adopts a very simple, open concept. The kitchen is attached to the restaurant but there isn’t any smell so I won’t worry about that.
There are also a number of seats available and is perfect for a group hangout.
If you anticipate coming in a big group, make sure you call in advance to reserve a table just in case there aren’t enough seats available.
Once you’ve arrived, just get a seat and start collecting your food! It’s an all-you-can-eat Korean barbeque buffet.
You have your typical kimchi dishes (which are very sour, if that’s to your liking) and an assortment of cold Korean appetisers.
There is also kimbap (Korean sushi), kimchi omelettes (of varying levels of spiciness).
The glass noodles were pretty good. A number of us went back for seconds (and thirds). It was just that good and of course, there was just so much of it too.
Next up, there was an area serving just seasoned pork and barbeque raw pork, cooked live in front of you.
Personally, I wasn’t a big fan of the pork as they tasted tough and were too oily for my liking. Nevertheless, this dish was popular with some of my friends so I would say, to each their own!
There was also a large array of rice cookers containing bean paste soup (very salty) and kimchi soup (very sour! But oh so delicious).
Right next to this, there is a small table containing shelves full of the ultimate Korean instant noodles and a hot water jug.
Because there is nothing more Korean than cooking your own gigantic bowl of Korean instant noodles!
We were lucky enough to have the owner herself, Joanne, cook a bowl of instant noodles with eggs for us. Doesn’t it look amazing? Especially the eggs. No idea how she did it; our own self-cooked bowl looked nothing like hers!
WarningThe Korean instant noodles are spicy so avoid this if you can’t take the heat. I know I couldn’t but then again, my tolerance is pretty low.
There is water served on the table. But if you want, you can also get barley tea. This is located right beside the Korean instant noodle section.
Personally, I wasn’t a big fan of this as the barley tea was pretty tasteless to me.

I thought Wara-Wara (와라와라) presented fantastic value for money. There was a wide range of authentic Korean cuisine available, including an array of spicy and non-spicy dishes to suit every palate. The staff were friendly, the place clean, and even though we were the last to leave around 10 pm, we never once felt pressured to leave.
And all this for a mere RM 29!
If you’re seeking a taste of home-cooked Korean meal in Kuala Lumpur, the Wara Wara Korean Restaurant is the place to go.
